Before the beginning the Weekend Update, the Tooth Fairy loved Lincoln's note and honored his wish to let him keep his tooth and still leave a surprise. He got a dollar and a shiny new flashlight! As soon as he woke up (at 7:00 am), he came into our bedroom to show his goodies. He was so excited!!! We were all home on Friday and had lots of fun stuff planned . . . until some living room gymnastics altered our day. Lincoln loves to jump off the ottoman, but he knows he's not supposed to. While Mommy was in the shower and Daddy was working in his office, he showed Beau how to jump off the ottoman. It didn't go so well for Beau, and poor guy hurt his foot on a bad landing. He spent an hour crying and not able to walk, so we bailed on our real gymnastics class. Beau and Mommy headed to the pediatrician's office to have his foot checked out. He had stopped crying on the way there and was sure that it wasn't hurting too bad anymore. And he was super excited that he would get a sucker after getting his foot checked out! He had some mild swelling and walked with a limp, but he never flinched when Dr. Cook rubbed and pressed all over his foot. So potentially no broken bones, just some ibuprofen and ice packs followed by heat presses the next day.
He was sure glad Ms. Juanita had stocked up on suckers at the front desk after his visit. He said on the way home, "I sure do love you little lollipop!" He even began to walk instead of needing to be carried. We have been so blessed to not have any major injuries, and with two little rambunctious boys that is a major accomplishment!
After lunch, the boys had haircuts with Mr. Danny. Lincoln was super excited, of course! He loves the tickling of the clippers and sitting in the big chair. He got a super great haircut. Beau's first (and most recent) experience with Mr. Danny wasn't that great. He was excited but ended up in crazy tears sitting in Mommy's lap. This time Beau announced confidently that he would sit in the big chair like Lincoln and have a big boy haircut - and that he did! One of the older ladies in the salon came over to say how well behaved the boys were. (Clearly she wasn't there for the previous appointment! It is so great when the boys behave well and others notice. It reminds me that I should compliment other Moms because that make a Mom's day!) After leaving Mr. Danny's, Beau asked if by not crying he had earned a treat. When asked what he thought an appropriate treat would be, he responded that a visit to the car wash would be fun. Why not?!?! We hit up Big Lou's and had tons of fun being sprayed with soap and going through the wash, and they loved hanging out while the interior was being cleaned. Win-win for all!!
Since Beau didn't seem to have a serious injury, Mommy and Daddy proceeded with their date night at the Rangers game. It was a special night in the wedge with Norm Hitzges, who is a radio legend around here. So cool to watch a game from the field level and meet a local celebrity! The boys were happy to have a sleepover with Nana and Pops of course.
Saturday's first even was Lincoln's T-Ball game, and he was a super fast base runner! He played several different positions in the field, but he did his best work at running fast.
Sweet Beau still had his limp on Saturday, but he refused to acknowledge it. He wanted to play as hard as ever and spent a lot time walking around during Linc's game. The boys rested in their sleeping bags and watched The Lion King movie, but Beau crashed out for almost two hours. He hasn't taken a nap in at least a year, so we knew he was not at full strength. Sweet little guy sleeping soundly!
After dinner we made a special dessert that the boys loved! Little pastry shells filled with homemade chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream and strawberries . . . winner!!!!
On Sunday morning, Beau sat with Daddy in big church while Mommy and Lincoln went to Sunday School. Beau loved Children's Time and was super interested in the special music during the service. He is staring very intently!!!!
We had a delicious brunch and did our weekly grocery shopping. Daddy and Uncle E played golf in the afternoon, and the boys busted out the play dough. (Play Dough is not this Mommy's favorite thing, but it would keep Beau off his foot!) They had a blast for an hour with their play dough. It's all cleaned up and put up for a while, by the way!)
Linc had T-Ball practice, and Beau was Mommy's entertainment. Such a fun and funny little guy! We cheered for Lincoln and read three little golden books several times during practice.
We all enjoyed the yummiest family dinner ever - baked salmon fillets and roasted veggies. It is the most awesome thing ever that they love the healthiest foods! Because we had dinner early and the weather was amazing, we headed over to the club to enjoy some family time. We helped Daddy play 9 holes (almost), and the boys loved riding on the cart and learning the basic rules of golf. We have a lot of work to do, but it was the best evening ever! Our first challenge is that Lincoln's exuberance equals really loud squeals/shouts/yells. You have to be quiet on the golf course, so that's our most important lesson. Beau was most interested in poking holes in the ground with tees, but that doesn't seem so offensive.
At each tee box, the boys got to get out and watch Daddy hit. Lincoln loved that he took a few warm up swings . . . he yelled (yes, yelled) out, "Strike One! Strike Two!" We tried to explain that Daddy was missing the ball on purpose to practice his swing, but Linc was sure of his analysis! The boys got to practice putting when we got to the green. The next Tiger Woods doesn't live at our house, so no one get crazy! They really did love the individual attention.
Beau only took a break from his tees to putt. He was WAY more interested in the tees!
After 9 holes of golf, we headed to the tennis courts for a little fun. Lincoln and Beau did a great job working on their skills. They even let Mommy and Daddy borrow their rackets to volley for a little while. Lincoln was the official score keeper and Daddy's cheerleader. Beau had to cheer for Mommy, but he was really more excited about chasing balls that weren't hit. The finally demanded that the wanted their rackets back to play! So much fun on the tennis courts!
After such a fun and busy day, everyone needed a little treat before baths. We made a few more pudding/whipped cream/strawberry desserts, and it was the best way to end the day!
Super fun and super busy weekend, but we wouldn't have it any other way! We hope Beau's little foot is on the mend. He's still limping a little but there is no evidence that it's getting worse. Life is never dull around here!
