Friday at last! Fridays are like a holiday around here, and we always have so many fun things planned. We started out at gymnastics in the morning. The boys had tons of fun of course. Lincoln was being silly on the rings and loved hanging and swinging like a monkey. He's almost got a ring flip mastered!
We spent some time on the balance beams and practiced flips on the trampoline. It's a great place to run wild, and we get to watch the Jr. Girls Team practice for their upcoming meet. They are super good! What if one of them is an Olympian one day, and we practiced in the same gym! We came home to have lunch and play, and then Beau asked in the super sweetest voice ever if they could make chocolate covered pretzels. How could a Mommy say no to such a sweet request? Their lunch was two slices of ham, two slices of cheddar cheese, crackers and an apple, so we had already taken care of the healthy part! They each got a bowl of melted chocolate, a pile of pretzels, and a sheet of foil to let the dipped pretzels dry. It seemed like a contained activity, so a little laundry and vacuuming was in order. By the time they were done, this Mommy was sorry she wasn't supervising more. They decided to scrape the remaining chocolate out of the bowls with their fingers and lick them . . . and then wipe it on their (BRAND NEW) shirts! What?!?! More laundry and clean up! At least they had a lot of delicious fun!
It was such a nice day, so we headed to the bike trail. Lincoln was excited to ride his bike, and Beau was happy to ride along in the stroller. The picture doesn't confirm their happiness AT ALL, but it really was fun. Perhaps the sun was in their eyes! The run was 2 1/2 miles, and it was all Lincoln could take on his bike.
We took a break inside for a while and worked on puzzles and Legos, but the weather was too gorgeous to stay in. The boys wanted to wash their rock collection first - always a favorite activity!
It was 80 degrees with a light breeze and a few clouds to give us some occasional shade . . . the perfect afternoon outside!!!!
Next up was cruising down the street to check out what our neighbors were up to. Lincoln chose his scooter, and Beau worked on pedaling his bike. Don't even think about calling it a tricycle to Beau!!!!
Lincoln showed me a new skill that he learned (from where I have no idea!!!), and it was climbing trees. He says one of his school friends taught him, but I'm not remembering a tree on their playground. Luckily, he only climbed up the small Crepe Myrtle in our front yard. It will make my heart stop if he learns how to climb up the giant tree in the back!
The boys also practiced their soccer skills and played with their Frisbees. We spent a LONG time outside this afternoon! Our neighbor agreed that we should enjoy the spring weather for the short time it lasts. We met our Friday night dinner group for delicious Mexican food and had lots of fun. The boys requested strawberries for dessert while watching the Mavs beat the Spurs in Game 6 in the first round of the playoffs. Lincoln said at the end that he was very proud of the Mavs, and that the Rangers should try hard to make him proud too. After Beau went to bed, Lincoln stayed up watching a few videos on the computer. His favorites were songs from the Lion King movie, so we need to have a movie night soon. Bubbles gave us Allyson's original copy on VHS (crossed fingers that it's in the box!), so we are ready the next time we have a free night. It was a super busy and super fun Friday . . . our favorite kind of Friday! Daddy was absent from most of the festivities because he was at the Scottish Festival for work, but he joined us for dinner and led our Mavericks cheering! The boys were so happy to tell him of their adventures of the day. The weekend is busy with T-Ball games and practice, church, and lots of spring playing. Happy Day!
