Sleepover and Birthday for Pop Pop!

Friday night was a big event for Lincoln - he got to have a sleepover with Nana and Pops!  I know, I know, it's crazy that he'll be five in just a few months and has never had a sleepover!  He likes his bed, and we like that he likes it.  We approached the idea last year, and he kind of got freaked out so a (too long) wait led to our next attempt.  Lincoln was so excited to pack his suitcase and get going!  (Beau was really upset that he couldn't go too.  He will transition from his crib tent to a big boy bed after Christmas and soon join Linc at another sleepover.  I promise I won't make him wait as long, and I know he'll be ready!)  Daddy took Linc to Nana and Pops house, and Linc immediately needed to unpack his stuff.  He took pjs, his bear and flashlight, a book and clothes for Saturday.
He repeated to Daddy that Mommy said he could stay up as late as he wanted!  They did some playing then settled into bed with a story from Pop Pop.  Beau's bed is across the room, and Pop Pop rested in there while Linc read his books and fell asleep.  Apparently there was some snoring going on, and Lincoln was imitating Pop Pop's snoring later!  I think Nana slept in Beau's bed for the rest of the night, then they were up to have fun on Saturday.  They got a yummy donut breakfast treat and did some decorating for Christmas.
Pop Pop had a birthday this weekend, so we all went to Benihana's for dinner on Saturday night.  It was the boys first time at a Hibachi dinner, and we had watched a few YouTube videos of the chefs in action.  They were so excited to see the onion volcano and get their food chopped and cooked right at our table!!!  Nana, Beau and Mommy "cheesed" while waiting for the fun to begin!  Beau enjoyed coloring his hat and searching for the letters L and B on his menu.  Those are his favorite letter, of course!  He was looking so grown up and happy!
Daddy, Pop Pop and Lincoln were anxiously awaiting the show to start as well.  Lincoln could only give me awkward smiles . . . too much pressure I guess!  Lincoln enjoyed the games on his menu and colored in the missing numbers on the Sudoku puzzle.
Mr. Jose was our chef for the evening, and he was super fun.  He did lots of tricks at Lincoln's request.  Looks like someone really paid attention to the YouTube videos!  He did the egg toss into his hat, chopped the shrimp tails in his pocket, made a seriously cute chicken shape out of the frying eggs, and cooked some seriously yummy veggies, chicken, steak and scallops for us all!  When he was frying the rice, he asked Beau what he was making . . . and Beau said, "A MESS!!"  That got a big laugh from everyone!  He was funny to talk to the boys about Nemo (the shrimp) and sing their favorite Madagascar song, "I like to move it, move it!"  Then Beau had to sing, "I like to toot it, toot it!"  The fun never stops!!
Evidence of how they watched Mr. Jose prepare our meal:  Lincoln was super thrilled and squealed like crazy!  Beau was super serious and watched each detail pretty quietly.

So the food was really good to the grown ups, but this was a new taste for the boys.  We kept telling them that it was just chicken, and they were pretty ok with that part of the meal.  Lincoln even learned to use his chopsticks to eat his chicken!  Beau loved the fried rice, but he already loves rice.  Lincoln inspected each bite to make sure that not one grain of rice was on his chopstick.  He definitely hates rice!  I was sneaky to insert a few shrimp pieces disguised as chicken, but they caught on by the second bit and were mad at me!  No one was a fan of the zucchini, even though they are fine with that when I make it.
They did have a lot of fun and loved wearing their hats like Mr. Jose!  It was a super exciting dinner.
After dinner we went back to our house to have birthday cake, and that was definitely the highlight of the night!  Who doesn't like birthday cake?!?!  The boys led the singing of "Happy Birthday to You", Pop Pop blew out his candle, and we ate our delicious cake with smiles.
Daddy and I delivered Pop Pop's birthday present last, and it was a frozen present!  We made him lunch for the next two weeks . . . 5 frozen bowls of taco soup and 5 frozen bowls of beef stew.  I know he likes those, and I like to cook them, and he always takes his lunch to work these days, so it seemed like the perfect gift for the man who has everything!  We hope he enjoys his lunch and thinks of his fun birthday party each day.  What a fun few days after Thanksgiving!  We will finalize our Christmas decorating and have many pictures to post from that tomorrow.  The boys (and Mommy) love to have the trees lit up and lots of fun decorations.

Thanksgiving 2013

After so much fun with our friends at our pre-Thanksgiving party, the boys were super excited about our Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday.  Lincoln told us a million times that on Thanksgiving you have a Feast!  We usually have the Freemans with us, but they had weird work schedules this year, so it was just the four of us at home.  We had decided to just make smaller versions of our holiday favorite side dishes, and Daddy ordered a turkey breast and rolls from our favorite BBQ place, Spring Creek.  Daddy remembered at about 10:00 on Wednesday night that in the excitement of getting things together for our party he forgot to pick up or turkey and rolls.  Whoops!!  We still had chicken dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a roasted turkey breast (from Tom Tom that he grabbed early Thursday morning)!  Lincoln and Beau were pretty sure they just wanted turkey and fruit, but they were required to take at least one bite of the sides.  Lincoln had boatloads of tears and plenty of fake chokes at each of his bites of dressing, potatoes, and green bean casserole.  I mean, the drama!!!  Beau made a little face when trying the new things but was happy to tell Lincoln how great the dishes were and how he was a big boy for liking them and not crying!  It was a funny Thanksgiving Feast.  We each talked about things that we are thankful for while we ate.
Beau: Mommy, Daddy, and Lincoln.
Lincoln: Boogers
Beau:  And toots!
That pretty much sums up the funniest and weirdest Thanksgiving Feast ever!
After lunch, Mommy got busy cleaning up the house from the night before and the kitchen from our lunch.  Daddy and the boys retired to his office to stay out of the way, and I had to investigate when it got too quiet.  Daddy had fallen asleep watching the football game (not the Cowboys), and Lincoln and Beau were watching a movie on the iPad.  Happy Guys!!
It had warmed up to 50 degrees or so, and we headed outside to play in the afternoon.  After some playhouse fun, we had our own game of football in the backyard.  Lincoln is learning how to throw a football, and he's not half bad.  He's terrible at catching one though, so no wide receiver here!  The most fun is chasing the one with the ball before they can score a touchdown.  Beau mostly beasted around with a bubble gun but joined in the chasing!  We loved making up our own touchdown dances!!!
While cheering on the Cowboys in the boys' lucky jerseys (knock on wood), we ate a handful of orange cuties.  These two LOVE eating these sweet little oranges, and they are back in season and so yummy!
Kevin took the boys to pick up our annual Marco's pizza for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was yummy.  I tucked them in their sleeping bags in front of the big screen with Despicable Me playing, and I dared to try my first ever Black Friday (even though it was still Thursday night at 8:00) shopping trip.  After an hour and a half in line, I made my way to the "line starts here" sign.  After a successful shopping trip, I got home to kiss the boys goodnight . . . and no one got trampled at Target!!
So we had a fun Thanksgiving, even if it was a bit different than usual.  We have so much to be thankful for, and I hope the Thanksgiving spirit stays with us for quite a while.  Christmas decorating is next, and we can't wait to begin decking the halls!

Pre-Thanksgiving Friend Party-So Much Fun!!!

Our Thanksgiving festivities began on Wednesday evening with a fun friend party!  So many friends were planning to be back in town for the holiday, and we found a free night to get everyone together.  A simple message from Jamie to a few people turned into a full blown party with many guests really quickly!  We were happy to host the party, and the boys were super excited!  They waited anxiously for the guests to arrive and served as door greeters.  The kiddos got settled in with pizza and fruit while a Charlie Brown movie marathon was on tv.  The grown ups got to have dinner together without much interruption . . . except for constant requests for more pizza from the kids!  Thanks to everyone for bringing the yummy side dishes and drinks.
Sweet Jackson was a ham for the camera!  He got to try pizza like the big kids, and he loved it!!!  Who doesn't love Carmines?!?!
Samantha's desserts were a hit, and my boys loved the cookies, brownies and fudge.  I've been asked to learn to make fudge now . . . recipe please!!!
While the grown ups continued reminiscing, the kids made super decorated pilgrim hats.  They had so much fun with the glue and decorations, and every one's hat turned out great.  Everyone was happy to pose for a group picture . . . except Lincoln.  He got a little shy and tried to run off, but Mommy said he had to be in the picture.  So he defiantly turned away from the camera . . . then he punched Beau and that ended in a fit of tears.  Well, everyone else was happy!!!  And they loved their hats!
A few moments later, Linc donned his Green Lantern mask and got back to his sweet and huggy self.  Beau showered Graham with a few hugs too!
So the party was made of the Kuhlmans (of course), Samantha and Eric Robison, Paige and Jon Erickson, Hayley and Casey Eoff, Shannon and Jason Hogg, and a surprise appearance by Rachel and Matt Goodman!  Those guys have been friends for soooooo long, and it is great to get their families together.  All credit for this party goes to Jamie Evans Rumph, who suggested a little dinner while in town from Colorado.  We were so happy to have her and her family with us.  This is the best group of wives ever!  We really love and enjoy each other in all of our different states of life.  Yes, we are in different places of kids ages and waiting to have kids . . . but we really get along and love the guys in the group.
A comparison picture seemed necessary, so Kevin brought out a picture from high school.  How different yet similar do they all look?  If they only knew that they would still be partying together, but with almost a dozen kids between them all in 2013?!?!

As the evening went on and it got late, the boys turned to their Halloween costumes to entertain the remaining kids.  Super fun Scare School was in session, and Mike and Sully led the roaring.  Sweet Emmy wanted a costume too, but couldn't agree with a super hero.  So sorry that we don't have any girly princess things here!
It was such a great party, full of happy friends that loved to catch up with each other and sweet kids that treated each other kindly.  I'm thankful that these parents have raised such great kids to use their manners and play nicely.  It's not often that so many people are available at the same time, so it was a special night.  I hope we can continue to celebrate the friendship of these guys and Jamie for many years to come!  Thanks again to Jamie for the spark - it was a wonderful evening!

Meltdown!!!!!

I was looking though some pictures from last month, and I discovered this sequence of hilarious and extremely sad photos.  Lincoln had been working on a homework sheet, but he got distracted by the playoff baseball game.  (Remember this was in October!)  Beau grabbed the sheet and went to work with his toddler scissors!  He's a master cutter and absolutely will cut an piece of paper he sees.  When Lincoln realized what had happened, he completely freaked out!!!!!  "BEAU CUT MY HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!  MY PAPER IS RUINED!!!!!!!  AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"

Clearly Beau wasn't too sad about causing Lincoln so much heartache.  Luckily, they have moved on past this tragedy and love each other again.  Man, it's tough being brothers!

Cold Weekend Fun

There are only a few times each day when all is quiet . . . and usually that means the boys are up to something!  I noticed the quiet and went off in search of what was going on, and I found them sitting in the corner of Linc's room in their underwear telling knock knock jokes!!!  They were having so much fun being silly, and it was nice to sneak in to hear their giggles.  We keep our home a pleasant 73 degrees year round (no matter the electric bill!), so playing in underwear during a crazy cold front is totally cool!
So the temperature has quickly turned to COLD and FREEZING (as Beau says), and we have stayed in for most of the weekend.  It has sleeted some but mostly just stayed around 30 degrees for the last few days.  We worked on our Thankful Tree for a while.  Lincoln told me what he was thankful for, and I spelled the words for him to write on his paper leaves.  Beau told me what to write on his half of the leaves, and we got quite a range of ideas.  They are thankful from everything from their family to candy to pickles (neither like pickles?!?!) to school friends to pilgrim hats!  Oh, and construction hats were needed because we were working on a tree, according to Lincoln.
They were so proud of the finished product.  We hung it in the playroom, and Lincoln made me text the picture to everyone so they could see the tree.
We also cheered on the Cowboys to a win this afternoon, and the boys were so excited that Tony Romo was wearing a shirt just like they were!  He has good taste, I guess.  We have a short week and are ready to begin our Thanksgiving festivities.  There are so many blessings to be thankful for . . . maybe I should make my own thankful tree!

Crazy Cold Friday (and Hot Chocolate)!

What a difference a day makes!  Last night it was 70 degrees and a little muggy . . . and we woke to 34 degrees with a cold rain!!!  We all bundled up for school, but stripped down to our swim suits for fun swimming lessons in the afternoon.  Luckily, the boys had a warm heated indoor pool to practice their strokes!  They were both swimming in top form, and their teachers were so proud of their effort!
The boys got all dried off and dressed in their warm clothes to head to Friday Night Dinner at Anamia's.  After a yummy dinner, we decided to replace our normal Slurpee treat with a Starbucks Hot Chocolate!  Two super excited boys couldn't wait!  Luckily we hit up the Starbucks with a drive-thru, and the hot chocolates were cool by the time we got home.  They were so proud of their cool new treats!  Linc has tried hot chocolate at home a few times, but it was his first Starbucks trip.  Beau hasn't had hot chocolate before, nor has he ever been to Starbucks so it was a double first for him!  It was definitely a success!!!  We will probably make a lot of Starbucks trips this winter because this stuff is yummy!
After we drank our yummy hot chocolate, it was time to try on our new warm pjs.  Minnie has sent us some, and Nana picked up some too.  The boys looked so cute in their new warm duds.  As soon as Auntie sees this, she'll get to sewing some super special pjs for them.  Auntie pjs are the best!!!
Pjs came off and went into the washing machine, and the boys decided to play in their underwear on this freezing night!  To go with their hot chocolate, they had to have ice cream with Daddy.  What?!?!
I can't even imagine a crazier Friday evening . . . suddenly freezing temperatures, swimming lessons, first Starbucks hot chocolates, warm pjs, and ice cream in underwear!  These two keep everyone on their toes, that's for sure.

Slurpee Night

Some nights a kid just needs a Slurpee!!!  The boys had fun at home all day with Nana and Pops, then we split up for a few little errands.  Linc and Daddy went to Home Depot, and Beau and Mommy went to get gas and a Slurpee.  We didn't forget about Linc, and there was a blue raspberry Slurpee waiting on him at home.  They had fun with their treats then played a little indoor catch with Daddy.  Wow!  I think I need to remove all breakables if this is going to continue through the fall/winter . . .  or they better work on their skills quickly!

Fun on a Monday

Monday began as any other Monday should . . . with a trip to the Cookie Mall!!!!  Actually, we paid a visit to the ladies at Mommy's office, but since the Cookie Mall is across the street a visit was necessary.  Last Monday, we saw the construction crew building the giant tree on the ice rink.   The boys watched forever and imagined what the finished product would be like.  This Monday, we had to check out the magnificent tree that was finally finished.  They loved the lights and ornaments and giant star on top!
We had plenty of other things to do besides hang at the Galleria Mall.  We went to the Post Office, which is a super cool place to these two!  We had lunch, did some school work, took a rest, colored with sidewalk chalk, had a million sidewalk races, and then went on an acorn hunt.  This was a serious hunt, and the most prized acorn was one that still had it's "hat" on.  They collected tons of acorns but both only got one with a "hat".  After collecting them, it was time to see who could throw them the farthest down the street.  Free fun, y'all!!!
It was homemade pizza night, and we invited Nana and Pops to eat with us.  They brought a yummy dessert, and these turkey cupcakes were such a hit.  I should point out that neither Lincoln nor Beau bothered with the cupcake part . . . they only scooped up the icing!  Well, at least they enjoyed it!
We all had a fun day together, and Lincoln even schooled us on a new game.  He has learned the "don't want on the cracks" game, and it has become very serious.  I know this is a kid rite of passage and probably lasts way into childhood.  It was definitely hard at the mall with their small tiles, and it was much easier on our sidewalk.  What a funny little superstition that every kid seems to find out about!

Saturday Paturday

"Saturday Paturday," says Beau.  He loves that he has figured out how to rhyme but mostly will only make the rhyming word begin with the letter P.  I'm not sure about his love of the letter P, but it's pretty funny.  He does it with everything: lemonade pemonade (one of his most favorites), love you pove you, ham pam, hockey pockey, and on and on!  Anyway we had a fun Saturday Paturday.  We went to the International Christmas Market at our church in the morning and bought a few Christmas gifts.  We also bought a new kid-friendly nativity set.  After a rest (and a run for Mommy even though it was super windy), we went outside to play.  Beau grabbed his two most essential toys right now - a ball and a shooter gun.
We did lots of ball playing that's for sure.  Linc learned how to throw a football correctly, but we still have a lot of work to do on catching it.  The most fun part is the running around like crazy.  They had some teamwork thing going on with sticks and carrying them backwards up the slide.  It kept them busy for almost an hour!  A little swinging is always necessary, and they sang songs to pay me for swinging them!
I got to enjoy the many colors of the changing leaves on my run, but this golden stunner is right in our back yard.  Just in the last week the leaves have completely changed from green.  Lincoln and Beau loved that the wind was blowing the leaves down from tree and swirling them around.  "It's raining leaves," they cried!
Lincoln is obsessed with writing letters right now.  He's known how to write all of his letters for over a year, but a couple of them looked kind of funny.  Also, he holds the pencil (crayon, marker, whatever) strangely.  So his teacher suggested a pencil grip that he can rest his fingers on in the correct position, and his penmanship has improved so much!  He's showing that off by writing letters to people.  He tells me what words he wants to write, and I tell him the letters.  This particular letter was to Aunt Sarah.  (Actually he told me he wanted to write a letter to Sarah Patsy Barbara, but I explained to him that they weren't one unit but individual people.  So Sarah was first!)  Everyone should keep an eye out for mail from Lincoln, and take note that he REALLY likes it when he gets a response letter.
We went down to this fun food truck place for dinner called Truck Yard.  We found a few lawn chairs and got settled in.  The kids had asked for Chick-fil-A on the way, but Daddy and Mommy tried out a few yummies from the trucks.  We had cheesesteaks, bbq and mac & cheese, and it was all really good (and really not light on calories, hence the 3.5 mile run earlier).  It was fun to sit outside for a picnic dinner under the Christmas lights in this nice weather.  I got two sweet smiley boys!
The boys dug into their Chick-fil-A right away, but Mommy and Daddy's food took longer.  By the time we had eaten, they were a little less than excited about being there!  The windmill wasn't as cool to look at anymore, the lights weren't as twinkle-y as before, and the Hershey bar treats in the car were calling their names!
Who wants to see a picture of two bored little boys?  I guess me because their expressions make me laugh.  Luckily we didn't torture them for much longer.  They enjoyed their little chocolates in the car and busted out their superhero capes until it was time for bed.  It was a fun day for all!

Hug or Headlock

Oh, what a picture!  It's difficult to tell if this is a hug or a headlock.  It's always 50/50 if the boys are getting along or fighting.  They love each other so much and play so well together - until they don't!  We love to hear the sound of them giggling like crazy as they make up a new fun game, but it never fails that the giggles turn to tears.  Luckily, they make up quickly and get back to loving each other.

Lots of Fun this Week!

Monday was such a nice day, and the weather forecast said it would change to cold on Tuesday.  We had a picnic lunch out front because the boys wanted to watch the cars go by as they ate their turkey and cheese pita sandwiches with pretzels and apple slices.  Ummm . . . I guess they didn't realize that we live on the quietest street ever with no traffic.  I think we saw three cars in 30 minutes!  We waved really hard at those three cars though!  They entertained themselves with their robot voices and were shocked that Mommy can be a Robot Mommy too.  Tons of fun!
The weatherman was not wrong about the cold forecast, and we've been staying inside a lot!  Lincoln's class had an early Thanksgiving party at lunch on Tuesday.  I was so happy to join him, and we had a boys vs. girls word war (beginning with the letter S).  The boys won and then practiced good sportsmanship by shaking the girls hands at the end.  It was a fun lunch.  Lincoln is still healing from a minor/major head scrape from last week.  The most fun part of any wound is the Band Aid, and he really analyzes which Band Aid is right for the day.
Tuesday was Mommy and Daddy's 8th Anniversary, and the boys were really excited about that.  We all talked about getting married, weddings, and celebrations a lot.  We had a yummy cake, and the boys sang "Happy Anniversary to You!"  Daddy actually had to miss the dinner and cake because he was entertaining clients in town from England, but he brought a sweet card and flowers home.
Bath time is always fun, but sometimes Lincoln and Beau really get the giggles.  The decided the wear their washcloths on their heads after getting a shampoo, and they just couldn't stop laughing!  We love to end the night with such happiness!
It has been a short but busy week.  Friday is a home day, and we have lots of things planned.  A little Christmas shopping, lunch at home, milk shakes (Linc's class is making shakes on Friday because they start with the letter S, and we have to get shakes of our own), swimming lessons, dinner with our Friday night group, and haircuts.  No, not haircuts for the boys . . . Mommy is getting a major haircut.  After a year of growing it out, Mommy is donating 11 inches of hair to Locks of Love for children's wigs.  Plenty of pics are sure to come!

Sunday Fun

After a super busy Saturday, we needed a regular Sunday of just normal activities.  Of course, church was first.  Lincoln happily went off to Sunday School, and Beau was so good in big church.  He gave the offering, went to Children's Time, colored and read books, and even spent a few moments sitting with Daddy.  They were bonding over their love of hand sanitizer!  Beau couldn't wait to show Daddy that he found it in his church bag.
We went to Cindi's for brunch after church, and it was a splitting kind of day.  Daddy and I split an omelet, hash browns and a biscuit with gravy, and the boys split an egg, bacon and mini pancakes.  Beau was very sure that he needed ketchup on his plate . . . what?!?!  He dipped each bite of his breakfast in the ketchup much to the disgust of the rest of our table.  Oh, well!  I would never imagine that a pancake covered in ketchup would be yummy, but Beau assured us all that it was the best!
Mommy made a run to Central Market and Tom Tom while the boys played at home with Daddy and watched football.  We all settled in for naps . . . until one sneaky napper stole my phone and took a picture of me sleeping and of his proud self!!!  That Lincoln is a mess!
The boys helped me make a yummy lasagna for dinner, and we got ready to cheer for the Cowboys.  Since the game wasn't going so well, Daddy made paper airplanes for the boys.  Score!!!  Paper airplane wars are so fun!
It wasn't all smiles and giggles on this Sunday, and Mommy and Daddy broke up several fights between the boys.  When they are getting along, it's great . . . when they aren't, it's not so great!  At the end of the day they really do love each other, and that's what matters.  It's just hard to get along with your brother all of the time!!!!

Saturday Night Stars Hockey Game

Family Fun Night at the Stars Hockey Game!!!  One of Daddy's birthday gifts was a family trip to a Stars game, and the boys were so excited!  They got matching new Victory Green shirts, and they looked so cute together . . . well, except for Beau's meltdown.  In his defense, it had been a long day of errands and family pictures, and he didn't get a nap.  He was a little (a lot!) uncooperative, but we wouldn't let that get in the way of our fun!
We went to dinner at the original downtown El Fenix before the hockey game, and it was delish!  The boys munched on chicken and cheese quesadillas and pineapple/blueberry salad until Beau took a tumble from his chair.  He scraped his chin pretty good and sat in Mommy's lap for the rest of the meal.  He has decided that he will listen to Mommy next time she says that we are not done eating and can't get down from the chair alone.  Luckily the AAC was right next to El Fenix so we went right over to the game.  Beau and Daddy were super cute and excited as we walked over.  Mommy's arms were thankful that Beau was with Daddy . . . someone is not lightweight!  (And yes, Beau's tshirt is tied up in the back with Mommy's pony tail holder.  Daddy thought that was super girly, but it kept his super big shirt out of the way and got several compliments during the game by other parents!  Score Mommy!)
Mommy and Linc got to walk together, and Lincoln was super busy telling about the last time he came to a Stars hockey game with Daddy.  I'm pretty sure he thought I'd never been to one, and he needed to let me know all about it.  Sweet boy!  Also, he said this at least seventeen times . . .
Linc: Mommy?
Me: Yes, Lincoln?
Linc: Can I tell ya something?
Me: Yes, what?
Linc:  Well, I love you!
Me:  Thanks buddy, I love you too!
He seriously the sweetest thing and melts my heart so many times each day!
Obligatory family selfie!  We had the BEST seats ever and were just a 19 rows from the ice.  It was fun that the boys could really see what was going on and follow the puck during play.
Another cute pic of my sweeties.
Ok, we didn't take pictures for the entire game.  It was easy to watch the action because we were so close.  Lincoln loved jumping up to high five when the Stars scored (2 times)!  He monitored the scoreboard very closely and was disappointed when the Blackhawks went up 3-2.  "That's not so good", he said!
These two zeroed in on a little 7/11 stand outside our section and were sure they needed slurpees!  Two blue raspberry slurpees for 4x the price better be 4x the yummy!  They had fun doing "Cheers" too!

There were a few really important things going on during the breaks that the boys couldn't get enough of . . . the Stars Ice Girls and the mini Slurpee blimp.  Beau was especially obsessed with the "sweeping girls" and always wanted to know when they were gong to come back out and sweep the ice.  He probably asked at least once per minute!  In between periods the Slurpee blimp flew overhead and dropped Slurpee coupons, and that was too cool!  They raised their Slurpee cups and cheered!  When it was time to go, we passed a few Ice Girls in the hallway.  I asked Beau if he wanted his picture with them, and he said YES!  I got my camera out and stood him in between them . . . and then he ran back and hid between my legs being all shy.  I couldn't convince him to stand next to the girls he had been obsessing over all night, so I picked up to go.  Oh.My.Goodness.  He screamed like crazy all the way out of the AAC, all the way to the car, and all the way home.  "I want to take my picture with those girls", he wailed over and over.  I tried to explain that I offered to take his picture with them, but he ran from them.  I tried to explain that we could go back another time and take a picture with them.  I tried to explain that they were gone too and ready for bed.  It was super heartbreaking that he didn't get a picture with them, and I'm sure he'll remember this most disappointing event for the rest of his life.  So I hope the next time we go to a Stars game he remembers this and stands next to the nice girls and says "Cheese" so we don't have to go through this again!!!!!!!!!!  It was actually a super fun family night, and the boys loved being at the hockey game.  Perhaps a good night's sleep will be just the answer to a busy day.
