As promised, the weather on Wednesday was full of varying types of precipitation. Isn't it March and almost Spring?!?! Most of Wednesday was rain, then sleet, then more ice, then around midnight a ton of snow. We rarely have real snow, so this was exciting!
School was cancelled for the boys on Thursday, and they ran outside to get a taste of the snow in the morning. So fun!
Well, it seems that Beau wasn't quite as excited about the snow. He would recover and love it!
Mommy's office was opening at noon (stay tuned for more on that!), and Daddy was headed south to a meeting in Austin. Lincoln and Beau were happy to go play on the snowy golf course at Nana and Pop's house. We sent lots of layers, and Nana wrapped their shoes in Target sacks to keep out the snow! They were ready for some sledding! It was so bright, they needed their shades!
Snow Angels in the untouched snow in the fairway. Too cute!
A very handsome snowman named Mr. Model-Man. He got a hat, gloves, and golf balls for eyes and buttons. They loved him!
Nana's best picture of the morning . . . Lincoln holding an umbrella over Mr. Model-Man. He was worried the sun would melt him, so he was giving him some shade. Sweetest kid ever!!
When Mommy got to work at noon, they had changed their plan and closed the office for the day. So Lincoln and Beau got picked up from Nana's for a quick trip to Target then activities at home. Who should we run into at Target . . . NANA!!! It totally blew their minds that they were just at Nana's house and now she's here at Target - CRAZY!!!! We headed home with our goodies and spent some time throwing snowballs in the backyard. It had warmed up considerably by the afternoon so a few less layers were needed.
Lots and lots and lots and lots of snowballs. We have to live it up because we usually just get ice.
We came inside to warm up and bake St. Patrick's Day cupcakes. Two little boys loved helping measure the ingredients and holding the mixer. They got to decorate the cupcakes on their own, and they were so proud.
They also got to eat a cupcake after all of that hard work . . . after dinner of course! We went all out for the snow day and had breakfast for dinner - eggs, bacon, tater tots (instead of hash browns), toast, and fruit.
Because it still wasn't bedtime yet, we did a fun science experiment. We had picked up a Coke bottle at Target, and our science kit had a balloon and pack of Pop Rocks. The directions told us to empty the Pop Rocks into the balloon and put it on top of the opened Coke bottle. As predicted, the balloon inflated as the Pop Rocks interacted with the Coke. Crazy!!!
It was a super busy snow day, and we all had tons of fun! The boys went to bed on time assuming we would be back to our regular Friday schedule, and they were asleep faster than ever. We have loved our little taste of winter these last two weeks, but we are all ready for Spring. Surely this is the last of the cold/ice/snow . . . Daddy keeps saying so, and this time we are believing him!
