Lincoln Loses His First Tooth!!!!

After a normal Wednesday evening of dinner, playing outside, puzzles and popsicles, an exciting even surprised us!  The boys had been eating popsicles in the playroom and working a floor puzzle.  They finished their popsicles and the puzzle and called Mommy in to see the finished product.  We sat in the floor for a few minutes and talked about the puzzle and read the jokes on the popsicle sticks.  (Why would anyone buy popsicles without jokes on the sticks?!?!)  They were supposed to throw their stick in the trash, but Lincoln had his fingers in his mouth.  When asked what he was doing, he responded that there was something weird in his mouth.  He pulled his hand out and asked me what it was . . . and it was a tooth!!!!  I praised him for pulling his first tooth and let him know what an accomplishment that was for a 5 year old!  He got so excited that he pulled his own tooth, and we all celebrated!  So he lost his first little bottom center tooth like magic.  No pain and only a little blood - easiest lost tooth ever!
He carried the tooth around with a death grip for at least an hour!  He was not letting go of it or letting anyone touch it.
Beau understood a little because we've been reading a Berenstain Bears book lately about Sister Bear losing her teeth, and he could see the evidence of the hole in Lincoln's gums and the actual tooth.  Still, he needed a picture of his teeth as well.!  Such a cutie!
Lincoln had gotten the idea in his head that he like the Tooth Fairy, but he doesn't want her to actually take the tooth.  He informed me that he would be fine with putting the tooth under his pillow, but he doesn't want the Tooth Fairy to take it away.  He thought he could just write her a letter asking her to leave the tooth but still bring him a surprise!  Crazy kid!!
Lincoln is sure that the Tooth Fairy will honor the request in his letter and leave the tooth.  He as already picked out a special place to keep the tooth (and future lost teeth) nearby.  He wants to tell them good morning each day and good night each evening.  So we will have a mouthful of dead baby teeth just hanging around . . . ok?!?!  Lincoln is just the sweetest thing ever, and he was so proud to "help the tooth get out"!  What a fun story of losing your first tooth!  So glad our family got to celebrate this special milestone with Lincoln!
