Thanksgiving 2013

After so much fun with our friends at our pre-Thanksgiving party, the boys were super excited about our Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday.  Lincoln told us a million times that on Thanksgiving you have a Feast!  We usually have the Freemans with us, but they had weird work schedules this year, so it was just the four of us at home.  We had decided to just make smaller versions of our holiday favorite side dishes, and Daddy ordered a turkey breast and rolls from our favorite BBQ place, Spring Creek.  Daddy remembered at about 10:00 on Wednesday night that in the excitement of getting things together for our party he forgot to pick up or turkey and rolls.  Whoops!!  We still had chicken dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a roasted turkey breast (from Tom Tom that he grabbed early Thursday morning)!  Lincoln and Beau were pretty sure they just wanted turkey and fruit, but they were required to take at least one bite of the sides.  Lincoln had boatloads of tears and plenty of fake chokes at each of his bites of dressing, potatoes, and green bean casserole.  I mean, the drama!!!  Beau made a little face when trying the new things but was happy to tell Lincoln how great the dishes were and how he was a big boy for liking them and not crying!  It was a funny Thanksgiving Feast.  We each talked about things that we are thankful for while we ate.
Beau: Mommy, Daddy, and Lincoln.
Lincoln: Boogers
Beau:  And toots!
That pretty much sums up the funniest and weirdest Thanksgiving Feast ever!
After lunch, Mommy got busy cleaning up the house from the night before and the kitchen from our lunch.  Daddy and the boys retired to his office to stay out of the way, and I had to investigate when it got too quiet.  Daddy had fallen asleep watching the football game (not the Cowboys), and Lincoln and Beau were watching a movie on the iPad.  Happy Guys!!
It had warmed up to 50 degrees or so, and we headed outside to play in the afternoon.  After some playhouse fun, we had our own game of football in the backyard.  Lincoln is learning how to throw a football, and he's not half bad.  He's terrible at catching one though, so no wide receiver here!  The most fun is chasing the one with the ball before they can score a touchdown.  Beau mostly beasted around with a bubble gun but joined in the chasing!  We loved making up our own touchdown dances!!!
While cheering on the Cowboys in the boys' lucky jerseys (knock on wood), we ate a handful of orange cuties.  These two LOVE eating these sweet little oranges, and they are back in season and so yummy!
Kevin took the boys to pick up our annual Marco's pizza for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was yummy.  I tucked them in their sleeping bags in front of the big screen with Despicable Me playing, and I dared to try my first ever Black Friday (even though it was still Thursday night at 8:00) shopping trip.  After an hour and a half in line, I made my way to the "line starts here" sign.  After a successful shopping trip, I got home to kiss the boys goodnight . . . and no one got trampled at Target!!
So we had a fun Thanksgiving, even if it was a bit different than usual.  We have so much to be thankful for, and I hope the Thanksgiving spirit stays with us for quite a while.  Christmas decorating is next, and we can't wait to begin decking the halls!
