Saturday's basketball game was anticipated by all! Lincoln had been practicing throughout the week, as weather allowed. He remembered how much fun the game was the last Saturday when he was really "into" it and hustling on defense. He played almost 3 awesome quarters! Go Linc! Then in his rest quarter, he and Blake (star player!) played a spirited game of Rock Paper Scissors. Seriously, they played for 8 minutes straight and never gave a thought to the game going on!
Beau brought his silliest self to the game, and he did some crazy dancing! He also did lots of racing with his buddy, Charlie. He loved this picture because his face was still, but his arms and legs were in motion. Crazy little dancing brother!
We met Nana and Pops for dinner after the game then came home to celebrate Nana's birthday (actually on Sunday). Nana opened presents selected by the boys themselves, and she was happy with her "Believe" cross from Lincoln and green sparkly straw cup from Beau.
Luckily, Nana also got a cake and flowers while we sang Happy Birthday. Everyone was glad to have chocolate cake for sure! The boys are already planning on how many cakes they can have in March . . . Beau, Minnie, Bubbles, and Lincoln . . . busy birthday month!
After Sunday School in the morning, we had brunch at the club before getting ready for the Super Bowl. Mommy hit up Tom Tom and Central Market for the week's necessities, then surprised the boys with a trip to McDonald's for an ice cream cone. They were TOO excited! We went to the McDonald's closest to our house, and the drive through person told us the ice cream machine was broken. Beau was so heartbroken and cried out, "How can the ice cream machine be broken? How can we ever get ice cream?" (It should be noted that they haven't been to McDonald's for ice cream cones or anything else for that matter in at least 6 months. We NEVER go there, but it was going to be a special treat.) Lincoln tried to calm Beau with the suggestion that we could just go home and get ice cream out of the freezer, and that it would be ok.) But Mommy had other plans. Come on . . . there is a McDonald's every three miles around here! We made a quick trip to another close McDonald's and the boys were happy to get their cones. Note the light-weight clothes because that would change in approximately 4 hours!
After our ice cream cone trip, Daddy started the chili for our Super Bowl dinner. It was delicious!!!! Lincoln ate his with noodles (weird), and Beau ate his plain with a few Frito's on the side (better). Daddy had his Frito Chili Pie style, and Mommy had her yummy chili with a bit of cheese and sour cream. We had fresh guacamole before the chili, and it seems like we should have Super Bowl food more often!!! Yummy!
So the aforementioned warm weather ended QUICKLY while we were eating chili! It was a super cold and windy night. We got ready to start the school/work week with big jackets and lots of hugs.
