After such a fun Friday celebration of Independence Day, we took it east a little on Saturday. We slept in, made a short visit to the mall, and watched the Lego Movie in the afternoon. Daddy suggested a family golf outing in the early evening, and the course was wide open. Lincoln and Beau were happy to work on their golf skills!
Apparently the family golf outing included Mommy too. It's been over a decade since Mommy has swung a golf club, but those college lessons from Daddy came back quickly: wide stance, bended knees, interlocked fingers, and left arm straight. It turns out that Mommy isn't the worst golfer ever! (Mommy forgot her pony tail holder and had a hair mess!) Perhaps that's the reason for scoring a 6 on each hole from the children's tees!
Beau got a little tired of golfing and it was just the three of us for the last half our round. He was content to ride and wait in the cart with the promise of dinner at the end! We had a delicious dinner at the club afterwards.
So much fun equals a tired little boy! He fought it as hard as he could after baths, but he crashed on the couch the second he was still. It was sweet to carry him to bed.
Big brother has been making fun of little brother for crashing in weird places lately . . . until he was caught sleeping at his table in his room on Saturday night!!! Daddy scooped him up and tucked him in for the night. They played so hard!
Lincoln has been working so hard to earn money to buy a new Lego set for the past few weeks. He gets quarters for making his bed, cleaning up the playroom, collecting trash, helping vacuum, and more various chores. He finally earned enough for a Target trip to pick out a new Lego set. He posed with his chore jar with so much excitement!
After much deliberation, he chose the Cloud Cookoo Machine Palace to spend his hard earned money on. He worked so hard on completing it on Sunday afternoon. Such a great lesson about working to earn money to buy what you want . . . how is he so old?!?!
Beau is less interested on a daily basis about earning quarters or dollars, but he had accumulated $7.00 when we went on Sunday afternoon. He chose a small set that can be a helicopter/airplane/boat that only cost $5.00. He has been excited to put it together, but he is just not as interested as Lincoln is about earning more money. Cute kiddo though!
We met up with Nana at the pool on Sunday evening, while Daddy and Pops played golf. The pool was pretty empty, and Lincoln made up a cool new way to "relax". He soft kicked his way around the entire pool and loved all of the space.
We had another dinner at the club then came home for dessert. Lincoln had insisted that we find red, white, and blue ice cream to celebrate the 4th, and we finally found it. Yummy dessert!
What a wonderful long weekend to be with family, have fun with friends, spend lots of time outside, and honor our country!
