Halloween Fun!

Happy Halloween! Lincoln's second Halloween was much more eventful than his first. Last year, we went to a couple of houses then handed out a bit of candy. This year, we hit up whole neighborhood with a big gang of kids! Linc decided to dress up as a bee this year. We asked him to choose between a bee and a chicken . . . he picked bee, though it was probably just easier to say! Anyway, he looked super cute and the costume was very comfortable. (He was a little bothered by the wings at first, but got over it when the action began.) The Hogg's house was our first stop, and Linc got a special treat. He loved the Halloween books - especially the Elmo one! He also got to choose a piece of candy which he proudly showed to everyone we saw later.
We met up with the Brosnahan family to trick or treat and had so much fun! Here's our first house - Elise was in charge of rousing the homeowner to the door with candy. She was very good at ringing and knocking. Linc and Alexis waited patiently and gladly accepted the candy!
We picked up a few other kids along the way and ended up with a big group. Will (from school) was in the neighborhood trick or treating too. What fun!

Some people just left a bowl of candy on their doorstep, and we tried to only take one piece each. Linc and Alexis made their selections thoughtfully.
Everyone had a snack or two along the route. Linc's choice was a little Hershey bar. Yummy!

The night ended with dinner and a swing or two. The girls were very sweet to Lincoln and took turns trying to feed him chips while watching a Barney video. What a lucky guy!

We all had a fun Halloween . . . and we're all worn out! Linc scored lots of great candy and had fun with his friends. Someone decided to put Game 4 of the World Series on Halloween night, so we had to catch up with Tivo. Happy Halloween!

World Series WIN

We witnessed a true miracle in Texas . . . a World Series WIN!!!! Lincoln stayed home with Nana and Pops, while Kevin and I (with baby number #2 tagging along) cheered on the Rangers with 52,000 fans. It was incredible, and we couldn't have had a better time. Strong pitching, awesome home runs, and lots of fan support all added up to a Texas win. We barely sat down, Kevin's losing his voice, and my hands are sore from clapping, but what a game! Here are just a few pictures.

We ran into Hogg after the game, and the guys embraced in celebration! This picture describes how we all feel after tonight! Go Rangers!

Cell Phone Fun

We got back into our usual Friday night routine of Mi Cocina and hanging out with the Robisons after several weeks off. Eric really impressed Lincoln with his phone while we were all playing. Mommy and Daddy have boring Palms and Blackberrys, but Uncle E has a super cool iPhone. Lincoln enjoyed several apps, but LOVED the repeating cat. How many times did Linc meow at the cat only to have the cat meow back? A million!

Monday Night Excitement

Linc was nice enough to help me get dinner ready tonight. I popped the pork tenderloin in the oven, and he helped me wash the lettuce. He didn't really like that part, but he loved the salad spinner! It was so much fun to pull the string over and over and over . . . I may need to invest in a few of these. It got quite a workout! The good news is that our salad was really dry!

After dinner, Daddy and Linc enjoyed a little man-time in Daddy's room. The watched football on the big screen and worked on a box of Cheez-Its. Linc must have been the lucky charm for the Cowboys . . . things got pretty bad in the game after he went to bed.
Another excitement-filled Monday at the Kuhlmans!

Lots of Ally Love

Allyson came to visit, and Lincoln loved it!!! He called her name at least a million times, wanted her to sit by him and hold him, and chased her around the house. Linc caught her trying to take a break and climbed on top to take a break too. What a sweet smile!

Come back soon, Ally!

Spikey!

I decided Lincoln's hair was looking kind of blah the other day and that he needed a little excitement. He went to school with a spikey do! It was so cute, and his teacher loved it. He must have played pretty rough or had a hard nap because it was back to flat in the afternoon. Too cute!

Push Ups

I guess all that gymnastics is paying off . . . Lincoln grabbed the ottoman and climbed up the couch to hang in this push up position for a while! Seriously, muscles!!!! We were laughing and totally amazed, and he just giggled and hung there. I don't know where he gets these ideas!
I guess he'll have the best biceps in the Toddler Room. Watch out bullies, here comes Muscle Man Linc!

Busy Weekend!

I think we're all still tired from our busy Saturday . . . I'm still not sure how we crammed it all in! We began the morning bright and early at the Dallas County Komen Race for the Cure. It was a lovely morning, and a wonderful crowd turned out to recognize breast cancer awareness. Please participate in a Race for the Cure in your area! Lincoln was a real trooper in the stroller. He's used to going with me on runs and doesn't mind being confined, but this one took a little longer. The crowd was VERY SLOW, and we both got a little impatient. It was a great event nonetheless. Thanks to Kevin and Veronica (and their bun in the oven) for joining us. It was great to visit again.
After the Race, Linc had gymnastics to attend. He was excited as usual and had a great time. He's really gotten the hang of the skills. He knows the stretches, tried to do a cartwheel off the mat, hung from the rings, and waked on the little beam barley assisted. His school buddy, Liam, has joined our class. Lincoln, Liam and (gym friend) Patrick enjoyed getting their stamps after class. They waited so patiently on Miss Rebecca to take care of them.
After Linc's gymnastics class, Nana and Pops came over to play. There was lots to do: bubble-blowing, ball-playing, bubble-blowing, snack-eating, bubble-blowing, Lego-building, bubble-blowing, and more. They all had a great time!
While Lincoln played, Mommy and Daddy went to watch the Rangers in the ALCS! It was an awesome game, great weather, lots to cheer about, and we beat the Yankees!!! We wore our best Rangers gear, did "the claw", ate lots of ballpark food, and had a great time.
It was a fun, but exhausting Saturday! We all slept well and late!

Latest Obsession

I found the cutest Sesame Street book the other day and bought it for Lincoln. Not much makes him happier than a new book, and this one is super cool. It has magnetic pages and Sesame Street magnets to interchange. He only wants to read this book while sitting in the big chair, and he only wants to play with the Abby Cadabby magnet and safari hat magnet. He grips them so tightly.
Showing me "Abby Dabby" and "Hat".
He repeats these words at least a million times while he's checking out the book. When the hat was lost for a short time, we turned this place upside down so he would quit asking about the hat. He's seriously obsessed!

Sesame Pumpkins

We haven't done any carving yet this Halloween, but we did make a couple of pretty awesome pumpkins tonight. Nana found the cutest Cookie Monster and Elmo decorations for Lincoln. It was so easy to stick these pieces in the pumpkins . . . and tada, we're done!!! Lincoln loved them!
Checking out Elmo . . . he's got fangs!
Hmmm . . . no fangs on Cookie Monster.
Lincoln is very happy with our pumpkins this year!

Bubbles with Bubbles

Have I mentioned Lincoln's obsession with bubbles? It's totally crazy . . . he loves everything about bubbles, except maybe the bubbles themselves. He wants to hold the wand, dip it in the solution, carry the tray, and even taste the solution on the wand. When it comes to the actual bubbles, he's only mildly excited. I guess it's the means, not just the end. When Minnie and Grumps (Bubbles) were keeping him on Saturday, they did lots of bubbles. Lincoln bossed them around plenty, I'm sure, about how to use all the bubble equipment.
Watch out! Someone got a new bubble gun! Luckily he isn't quite strong enough to pull the trigger, but he's got good aim!

Southwest Classic

Want to know a great way to spend an October afternoon? At Cowboys Stadium watching the Razorbacks beat Texas A&M! We left Linc with Minnie and Bubbles (Grumps temporarily has a new name!) for the day and headed out to Jerry's monstrosity. Seriously, the stadium is the biggest thing ever! We really enjoyed the afternoon of football, had great seats, and sampled a few of the new menu items.
It was awesome to call the Hogs with real people again. We're used to just the two of us trying to teach Lincoln during games. Sounds better when there are tens of thousands doing it too!
Even though we had great Club seats, it was hard not to watch the massive HD screen above.
So glad the Hogs won! We had a great time, and Linc had lots of fun playing with Minnie and Bubbles. We kept our phones on refresh for updates on the Ranger game going on across the street. Unfortunately, we didn't win . . . but Game 4 of the ALDS is tomorrow. Go Hogs and Go Rangers!

The Little Dipper

A shocking thing happened this Friday evening . . . we didn't go to Mi Cocina!!!!! We tried out a new Mexican place, and it was yummy! Along with the regular salsa they served a black bean dip, and Lincoln loved it! Right away he wanted to dip his chip in the bowl. How did he know to do that? He kept sucking the bean dip off the chip and dipping it again. Of course that meant he got his own bowl because no one likes a double-dipper!
Check out that sweet happy smile after discovering a new yummy food. I had to thoroughly clean his hands and face with wipes because it got pretty wild.

Lego Land

Legos have taken over our house! Lincoln really loves them so we build and tear down lots of towers! He's definitely got the whole thing figured out. He hauls the red bucket from the corner and dumps ALL of the Legos in the floor. OK, time to create!
I guess he got tired of the Legos and wondered about the bucket they live in.

I had no hand in this . . . I'm just the photographer! I giggled and could hear him giggling inside the bucket. What a silly kid!

Halloween Spirit

Mom, there's a pumpkin on my shirt!
We're in full Halloween mode around here, and I love it! Lincoln is not old enough to have a say in his outfits yet, so it's Halloween shirts and socks every day!

Halloween Costume Experiments

This weekend was the designated "get Lincoln's Halloween costume" weekend. We tried on a few items that we had at home to see if any made an impact. The ever popular skeleton was nice . . . it's really pajamas, but who would know?? Linc sure thought it was comfy! Better keep looking though.
Somehow we discovered an Elvis costume in the closet! I'm not exactly sure where it came from, but let's give it a try. Linc didn't care for it, but decided to ignore it and get a book to read. I kept trying to get him to pose . . . no luck. Kevin said he was too embarrassed to look at the camera. (He does kind of look like he's running from Papparazo Mommy!)
Neither Skeleton or Elvis seemed to tickle our fancy, so I found a costume we could all get excited about. Stay tuned for more buzz about Halloween!
