Well Visit and Smiles

The boys had a well visit scheduled for after school one day.  Their favorite part . . . getting their blood pressure checked!!  It was such a different feeling for the cuff to squeeze their arm, and they couldn't stop smiling and giggling.

The important part of the well visit was the actual check up.  They passed with flying colors!  

Happy Birthday to Jack

Jack's birthday party was at Free Play Arcade, and the boys loved it.  It's an arcade with tons of old school games like Pac-Man, Mortal Combat, etc. The kids took over the place and played everything! 

Coach Blake (Jack's Dad) played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Linc . . . so cute!!!  Well, except for his Houston Astros hat, but Lincoln enjoyed it. 

These two . . . Beau and Emily were the littles.  Emily (Jack's little sister one year behind Beau) is a fierce little thing, and she loves Beau.  Beau is usually friendly, but sometimes just tolerant, with Emily.  She's super fun, but sometimes she's too much for Beau.  However, Emily is awesome and we love her.  She takes no grief from the big boys at all! 

It seemed like the kids were having all the fun until this happened . . . Dads took over!!!!  Look how much fun they are having!

Mom/Son Nerf War

5-20-16

Mom/Son Nerf War!!!  We bought this event at the PTA Auction, and we have been anxiously awaiting the date.  We brought our best Nerf guns and a million darts and all of our excitement.  (Beau got to join in too.)  We were on the blue team, hence the blue headbands/bow (really, when is the last time I wore a bow?!?!)  Game faces on!

There were several stations to practice on that the boys loved.  Firing darts at each other was a favorite for sure.

We played a few rounds of Capture the Flag of blue team vs. red team, and those were fun.  Moms and boys against Moms and boys.  These guys looked serious!! 

We changed it up for the last round of Capture the Flag and made it Moms vs. boys.  It was a hard fought battle, and there were some personal attacks along the way.  One of my kids shot me to take me out, Ms. Erin shot one of them back in return, we all got rescued and rebounded . . . AND THE MOMS WON!!!!!  We didn't gloat (much), but then we had to go back to Mom-mode because there were a few tears from the losing group.   

Luckily, plenty of pizza and juice boxes were ready to ease the pain from the loss.  Everyone had a blast, and we are signing up for this party at next year's auction.

1st Grade Awards Assembly

5-19-16

Time for the end of year Awards Assembly, and we were so happy to see Lincoln receive two awards.  He received the Pony Pride award for 1st grade for excellent behavior and stellar academics.  Ms. Low presented him with the Pony Pride medal.

Lincoln also received the Perfect Attendance award, and it was a little surprising.  We didn't realize how lucky he/we were that he hadn't been sick or missed a day of school.  A few text messages from other Moms applauded his amazing immune system!!  He posed with Nick after the assembly, and they cheesed! 

Little brother was proud of him and needed to be in the picture too, so we made that happen.  Beau is so excited to attend Bowie and be like Lincoln (even though he would actually never say he wants to be like Linc).  Sweet brothers! 

Great year for Lincoln!  We have loved 1st Grade and Ms. McPherson!

Mystery Reader - This Monster Needs a Haircut

One more Mystery Reader for Mom in 1st Grade.  These are so fun!  The book was This Monster Needs a Haircut, and it had lots of hilarious elements.  EVERYTHING gross got stuck in his hair!

The actual day was a little hectic, so the pictures are just from prep.  These are paper bag hand puppets.  In the classroom we glued long crazy strips of green crepe paper to and added weird things like the monster had in his hair.  The kids got crazy with the long paper strips! 

Our snack was a Monster Mix of popcorn, peanuts (no nut allergies in the class), pretzel sticks, and M&Ms.  Yummy! 

It was fun that many of the kids hadn't ever read this book before, and they loved the silliness of it.  Such a fun afternoon in 1st grade.

Cruising in the Golf Cart

Cruising on the new golf cart is a new favorite!!!!!  These two love chilling on the back and taking in the sights.  They even get to ride to get ice cream and treats, so this golf cart is definitely the best!

Cannonball!!!

Lincoln is the King of the Cannonball this summer!  He has the cutest little tuck and enters the water just right.  We probably have 100 cannonball videos.  

Buddy Fun Day - Lincoln 1st Grade

Hooray, it was finally Buddy Fun Day.  (That is Bowie's version of Field Day.)  You get to choose a buddy to do all of the activities/stations with, and Ms. McPherson was kind to let Linc and Nick choose each other early.  She knew they would be each other's first pick!  Oh, and the cutest part is that you dress like twins.  These two actually already had an entire matching outfit!

There are tons of stations manned by volunteer moms.  Some favorites are the 50 yard dash, potato sack race, rock climbing, hockey shots, marble fishing, water gun shooting, and a Popsicle stand.  Other than the Popsicles, tossing rubber chickens was a definite favorite!  Look at those smiles!

Oh, and the photo booth provided souvenirs.  This is proudly displayed in Linc's room.

Such a fun morning at school.  The kids look forward to it all year, and it takes a lot of volunteers to pull it off.  We love Buddy Fun Day!

Fun with Friends

Tuesday night with no sports practices or games . . . invite some friends over for hot dogs and swimming!!!  Clearly everyone had fun!

Time to celebrate Mrs. Erin's birthday.  We did it in style on the patio at Roman Cucina . . . complete with Italian food, fun drinks, iPads, and petit fours from Stein's Bakery.
